Is the dell adapter battery like the original that does not require discharging the battery so it will hold the charge?

Post Re: adapter
•An adapter or adaptor is a person that adapts or a device that converts attributes of one device or system to those of an otherwise incompatible device or system.
The connector framework, whose code is common to all connectors, acts as the intermediary between the integration broker and the application-specific component.
An electrical adapter may enable connection of a socket used in one region to a plug used in another by offering connections for the disparate contact arrangements, while not changing the voltage. For more, see: Domestic AC power plugs and sockets.
A garden hose adapter can convert between threads and quick-release, "snap"-type connections.

Post Re: adapter
The circuitry required to support a particular device. For example, video adapters enable the computer to support graphics monitors, and network adapters enable a computer to attach to a network. Adapters can be built into the main circuitry of a computer or they can be separate add-ons that come in the form of expansion boards. Another common kind of USB adapter these days is one that connects an iPod or other MP3 player to its power charger. A portable music player will likely have not a USB port, but rather some kind of serial port. This is where the USB adapter comes in handy. The cable that comes with the music player will have the serial cable on one end and a USB cable on the other end.An adapter is a physical device that allows one hardware or electronic interface to be adapted (accommodated without loss of function) to another hardware or electronic interface.
